Full interior development of Nedbank’s first retail-format flagship branch within a new mall environment. Awarded through competitive design selection, the project required the transformation of a blank shell into a high-end banking space capable of operating within a retail setting while maintaining security integrity and brand authority.

The design intent centred on humanising the banking experience within a retail environment — shifting perception from institutional to welcoming without compromising security integrity.

A layered material palette combined sustainable Namibian timber, integrated lighting, architectural cladding and planted elements to introduce warmth and accessibility. The circular counter geometry established a strong spatial anchor while resolving structural constraints and circulation flow.

Security measures — including bulletproof glass, secure safe construction and ATM integration — were embedded architecturally rather than expressed visually, maintaining the high-end retail character of the space.

The result was a flagship banking environment that balanced authority, openness and operational precision.
